Royal Gazette honours cricket team with slideshow
Bermuda’s National Cricket team and their achievements are now memorialised in a slideshow on the Internet.
The Royal Gazette’s Chief Photographer, David Skinner spent over a month following the National Cricket team on their ICC Cricket World Cup odyssey, capturing them at their best. And as a tribute to the team, Mr. Skinner compiled all of his photos into a four and half minute slideshow set to the ICC Cricket World Cup Anthem, which can be found by going on The Royal Gazette <$>website.
He said: “There are a selection of pictures from training in the West Indies, the warm-up match in St. Vincent, the World Cup matches in Trinidad and the arrival back in Bermuda at the airport.
“I chose the one for the paper today because of the contrast between the tears from Malachi Jones and the joy coming from the smile on Captain Irving Romaine’s face.
Before his tears, Malachi Jones had, with his very first ball, snatched a wicket off India’s stylish opener Robin Uthappa and became the first teenager to take a wicket on his first ball in a World Cup.
After Dwayne Leverock stooped low in the slips to complete the dismissal, Jones ran around the field with joy before being engulfed by his teammates and had to wipe away his tears before bowling his second ball.
While the team may have lost all three games in their World Cup debut, they are Bermuda’s heroes and now they are all captured in photo tribute on the Internet for everyone to remember.
The slideshow was posted yesterday morning and it can be viewed by clicking on the Gazette Video link at www.theroyalgazette.com
He added: “It’s a little tribute to our National Cricket team in honour of their achievements at the Cricket World Cup.”
