Flight diverted

Photo by Glenn TuckerAn Ambulance rushes off back to the hospital form the Bermuda International Airport after responding to a call from an American Airlines flight that had a passeneger who was in distress while in flight Wednesday morning.

At 10.30 a.m. yesterday, an American Airlines flight reported a two-year-old passenger was experiencing seizures and a doctor on board was administering medical attention.

When the flight landed 25 minutes later, awaiting EMT and ambulance personnel treated the child and transported him to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

A police spokesman said: "There was a doctor onboard the flight, but they wanted to make sure they had adequate support on the ground."

Yesterday evening the child was reported to be in stable condition and would be discharged from the hospital soon.
