Man stole contents of fridge, court hears
A hungry man trespassed into a Pembroke home and stole the contents of the fridge as well as $1,500 in cash, Magistrates' Court heard yesterday.
Edward Fox, 41, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to stealing $1,542.50 worth of goods from a home on Uppington Crescent, Pembroke on March 8 this year.
Crown counsel Carrington Mahoney told court the complainant returned home at 8.30 p.m. and saw footprints on the tiled floor, discovered the sliding glass door was unlocked and $1,500 missing.
The complainant also noticed a loaf of bread, a jar of mayonnaise, a jar of peanut butter, hot dogs, sodas and chicken breasts were missing from her kitchen.
Police were able to match a finger print discovered at the scene and arrested Fox a few days later.
Fox also pleaded guilty yesterday to possession of drug equipment on June 12 last year.
Mr. Mahoney told the court when Police approached Fox on Suffering Lane, St. George's, he appeared to be fidgeting and when officers opened a bag they discovered the equipment.
As the Police cautioned and arrested Fox, he said: "Come on man. We've known each other since we were five."
The Police took him to the St. George's Police station where cocaine was discovered on the equipment. Fox was bailed to appear in court on October 5.
At the time, however, Fox missed his court date for possession because he was in prison for not paying child support.
While in prison, Fox also missed his sentencing date for breaking and entering the White Horse restaurant on April 12 last year.
Yesterday, Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo sentenced Fox for all three incidents with 12 months imprisonment for stealing, 12 months imprisonment for possession of drug equipment and 3 months imprisonment for breaking and entering. All the sentences are to run concurrently.
