Chamber Connections, which is run by the Chamber of Commerce, aims to encourage young people working in businesses across the Island to network with one another while learning about new services and products.

The event is for members of the Chamber of Commerce. Every month a different company that is part of the Chamber sponsors the event and uses it to market their facilities, products or services to other members.

So far there have been four events at companies like P-Tech and Freisenbruch-Meyer Group.

Executive vice president of the Chamber, Diane Gordon, said: “It benefits all Chamber members but what we have tried to encourage companies to do is send young employees to these events because many of them do not know about the services provided at other companies.

“It’s also important for young professionals to meet other young professionals in different fields.

“So far the response has been great, it grows every time we have one because people hear about it. More than 100 people are planning to attend tonight’s event.”

Twenty-three-year-old Lindsay Davis organises the events for the Chamber, along with staff from the company hosting it.

The University of Western Ontario Graduate, and former deputy-head girl of Bermuda High School, is the Marketing and Events Co-ordinator for the Chamber.

She said: “”Bermuda is in need of an avenue for young professionals to network in a comfortable environment. We are not looking to sit in a boardroom, but rather socialise and enjoy each other’s company.

“The Chamber is delighted to offer this opportunity to the Young Professionals of our member organisations. As a young professional, I feel honoured to be leading a division of the Chamber which has the potential to do wonderful things on the Island.”

Tonight the LOM Group will showcase its Individual Savings Plan and an Employee Direct Deduction Savings Plan, which help employees save for short and long term financial goals.

Anyone interested in participating in upcoming Chamber Connections events should contact Ms Davis at the Chamber of Commerce.
