A young drunk driver who injured two men after crashing into their car at 80 kph was yesterday jailed for 18 months. Theron Williams, 21, caused serious head injuries to Sebastiao DeMoraes — from which the victim is still suffering — in the accident in the early hours of January 30, 2005.
Bermuda College student Williams, of Town Hill Road, Smith’s, who had been out drinking with friends in the City of Hamilton, was later found to have 116 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood, against the legal limit of 80 mg.
At a trial in February, he was found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm to Mr. DeMoraes by driving while over the alcohol limit, as well as a second charge of causing actual bodily harm to the victim’s passenger.
