THE month of May is World Red Cross and Red Crescent Month and the Bermuda Red Cross is celebrating the birth of founder, Henri Dunant (May 8, 1828-October 30, 1910) with its third annual “Red, White and Do” Day on May 4. <@$p>For a $2 donation, the Bermuda Red Cross is encouraging the community to wear its red and white colours for the day and to do something in their homes, schools, offices and community to promote health, safety and preparedness. This can include getting hurricane supplies, registering for a CPR or First Aid course, purchasing a First Aid kit, volunteering for a charity, visiting an elderly relative or friend, learning to swim, getting rid of unnecessary trash at home, keeping to the speed limit, checking your home’s smoke alarms, checking the expiration date on medication and slapping on some sun block before going to the beach. To find out how you can help make a difference, contact the Bermuda Red Cross at 236-8253 for more information.
