Trucker injured in industrial accident
At a waste facility yesterday a tipping truck caused the driver to jump, leaving him injured.
Around 12.30 p.m., as a driver for Atcheson Trucking Company was unloading the garbage from the back of his truck at the Tynes Bay Waste Facility.
As the front of the truck came off the ground, the driver jumped from the truck and broke his ankle. He was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Dr. Derrick Binns, Permanent Secretary of Works and Engineering said the Ministry is conducting an investigation of the accident and the incinerator was not damaged.
Police issue licence, insurance warning
Police are advising the public to ensure that their vehicles, whether it is cars, trucks, cycles or trailers, are properly licensed and insured before driving them on the road.
It comes after officers discovered several unlicensed vehicles during recent traffic checks.
They are also warning offenders, that they face a fine or court appearance, if caught.
Police issue mooring warning
Marine Police are advising all boat-owners to check on their vessels and ensure that they are properly secured to their moorings — in light of the current weather conditions.
Also, Police are reminding boat-owners that their registration numbers and Marine and Ports decals should be on display.
This will assist the Marine Police in identifying the rightful owner of a boat if it breaks free and is subsequently recovered.
