Man denies five counts of heroin possession
A man has appeared in court charged with possession of cocaine and diamorphine with intent to supply.
Orlando Blair, 26, of Cox’s Lane, Pembroke, is also charged with possession of a 9mm bullet and possession of cannabis and cannabis resin with intent to supply.
He pleaded not guilty to all five charges at Magistrates’ Court last week.
Blair was bailed to appear before the court on June 8.
Woman charged with assaulting two others
A woman has been charged with burglary and assaulting another woman causing grievous bodily harm.
Januari Gibbons, 29, of Orange Hole Road, St. George’s, is also accused of a further assault on a second woman.
The offences allegedly took place at a house in Lemon Road Grove, Hamilton, on May 15.
Gibbons appeared at Magistrates’ Court last week but entered no plea. She was bailed to appear before the court on June 15.
Thief tracked down via fingerprints
Police carried out fingerprint testing to find a thief who stole $7 from the glove compartment of a car, a court heard.
Andrew Arorash, 37, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to the theft at Magistrates’ Court.
Cindy Clarke, prosecuting, said the car, a white Suzuki, was parked overnight on April 23 at the Eurocar parking lot, where the owner was an employee.
“He left the car unlocked and the next morning he discovered the $7 was missing from the glove department. Police carried out fingerprint tests on the car and fingerprints were located on the front door,” she said.
Arorash apologised to the court. He said: “I’ve had a lot of trouble on the Island. I was an honest man before.”
Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo gave Arorash a year’s suspended sentence. He said: “The stakes are going up for these kinds of offences now.
“You chose to steal and violate a person’s privacy and property.”
Woman fined for having cannabis
Police find 2.6 grams of cannabis on a Paget woman while she was in custody on another matter.
Magdalena Szymanska was fined $400 by acting Magistrate Ed Bailey after the 27-year-old Southcote Close woman admitted having the cannabis inside a clear plastic twist on January 20.
Brass knuckles earn man a $750 fine.
A Devonshire man found with an offensive weapon was fined after pleading guilty at Magistrates’ Court.
Crown counsel Cindy Clarke told how Police found Aaron Michael Chase, 23, with brass knuckles after searching him at the scene of a fight in St. George’s.
When officers questioned him, he said he had the weapon for his own protection.
Acting Magistrate Ed Bailey fined him $750.
