Women, man remanded for trial in Friday’s stabbing attack
Two women and a man accused of wounding a woman with intent to do her grievous bodily harm were remanded into custody at Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
Jainai Caldwell, 24, from Pembroke, is alleged to have been attacked by Sharde Dorika Hassell, 19, Jahnika Ashley Powell, 22, and Christopher Lima Ferreira, 22, on Friday.
The matter is one that can only be heard at Supreme Court, so the trio were not required to enter a plea.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner denied bail applications and remanded Hassell and Powell, both of Two Way Lane, Pembroke, and Ferreira, of Ten Pin Crescent, Warwick, into custody. They will appear again before the court on June 12.
The information outlined in court by Mr. Welling indicated that the complainant and her friend visited the Mid Atlantic Boat Club in Devonshire prior to the alleged stabbing. This contradicted earlier information released by the Police that the venue of the visit was Spanish Point Boat Club.
Woman hit by truck
A pedestrian suffered a head injury and was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after a truck on Court Street hit her.
On Tuesday at around 10.35 a.m. Police say it appears a truck travelling east on North Street, turned onto Court Street and collided with the 51-year-old Warwick woman, as she walked on a pedestrian crossing.
She was taken to hospital via ambulance and was treated and released. Police are inquiring.
Calling cards stolen
A bold thief stole a blue bank bag containing a quantity of telephone calling cards and parking vouchers from the Clarendon Pharmacy on Bermudiana Road.
At 10.55 a.m. on Tuesday, officers spoke with the complainant, the store manager, who said at around 10.30 a.m. on Monday, an unknown man walked into the store and swiped the bag before fleeing.
Police are inquiring.
