Holiday garbage schedule in place

Residents are advised a holiday garbage schedule is in place over the next few days.

The Ministry of Works and Engineering says collections in the West End will take place on Tuesday and Thursday; those in the East End will be on Wednesday and Friday. Recyclable collection will occur on the second day of the service.

Young award-winners to meet Governor

About 160 young people will be hiking up Langton Hill to Government House to claim their Duke of Edinburgh awards from the Governor on Tuesday.

Sir John Vereker will be congratulating the award-winners on their work with children, the elderly, the sick or disabled, or on projects such as conservation work.

Organisers say the skills the young people have developed will help them stand on their own tow feet and prepare them to be good citizens of the future.
