MP Maxwell Burgess is being sued for $1.6 million owed to a bank on a mortgage and two loans against his waterfront home in Hamilton Parish.
The 53-year-old United Bermuda Party member and businessman must reach a repayment agreement with Capital G or face having the four-bedroom property on Pearman Hill Road repossessed. The Royal Gazette understands that no date for a court hearing has been set, although Mr. Burgess has been served with legal papers.
He declined to comment yesterday as did Justin Williams, lawyer for Capital G. Mr. Burgess, who was first elected for the United Bermuda Party 25 years ago, plans to step down at the next election.
