<Bt-1z20>Golf cart is just the tonic for Agape House patients

AGAPE House patients will travel to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital in relative style in future — thanks to the donation by the Mid Ocean Club of a golf cart, writes Tricia Walters.Agape House is Bermuda’s only dedicated facility for terminally-ill patients and in the past staff struggled to get patients to nearby medical facilities for services such as diagnostic tests, chemotherapy, activities or physiotherapy.

Mid Ocean Club president Shirley James and vice-president David Ezekiel were on hand to deliver the keys to Agape House staff. Mrs. James said they were pleased to make the donation in light of the valuable service the hospice provides to the people of Bermuda.

Meanwhile, Gertie Barker, president of Friends of Hospice, a non-profit organisation that raises funds for Agape House and provides volunteer services, was on hand and said she was delighted to accept the golf cart.

“The generosity of community partners like the Mid Ocean Club helps us provide extra amenities for our patients,” she said.
