Scholarship boost for four medical students

Four Bermudian students pursuing careers in the medical field have been presented with scholarships worth $12,000 each.

The students received their awards last Friday at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess during the Bermuda Health Foundation’s ‘Salute to Service’ dinner.

The scholarship winners were: Robin Douglas, who has been accepted in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Programme at Keiser University; Kaye-Anne Newton, who is presently studying Internal Medicine at Howard University’s College of Medicine; Dani Raynor, a 2007 CedarBridge Academy graduate, who will further her studies at St. Mary’s University where she will be majoring in Psychology; and, Ciara Talbot, who intends to specialise in Osteopathic Medicine and is currently studying at La Sierra University in California.

Deputy Premier and Finance Minister Paula Cox was also honoured by the Bermuda Health Foundation on the same night.

Premier Ewart Brown presented her with the Salute to Service Award for her exemplary service to the Bermudian community.

The Bermuda Health Foundation was founded five years ago by Philip Butterfield and his two brothers Dr. Brown and Vincent Hollinsid, as well as Murray Brown.
