Devonshire man fined for having cocaine

A drug user who was caught with cocaine and cannabis in his pocket was fined $2,000 yesterday.Police searched Ricardo Madden, 21, of Verdmont Valley Drive, Devonshire, after arresting him on another matter in Pembroke on March 7.Yesterday, Magistrates' Court was told that, after officers found the substances in a micro bag in his pocket, Madden declared: "It's weed and crack."

Police searched Ricardo Madden, 21, of Verdmont Valley Drive, Devonshire, after arresting him on another matter in Pembroke on March 7.
Yesterday, Magistrates' Court was told that, after officers found the substances in a micro bag in his pocket, Madden declared: "It's weed and crack."
Madden admitted two charges of possession and said he had turned to drugs but was trying to get his life back together.
He was fined $1,000 for each offence by Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner.
