Fire service merger one step closer

Senators rubberstamped a plan to merge Bermuda's Fire Services under one umbrella on Wednesday.Public Safety Minister David Burch said the merging of the Airport Fire Service and the Volunteer Fire Brigade in St. George's into the rest of the Fire Service would improve command and control.He added that volunteers will have to get trained to be at the same standard as regular offices so that they could provide a first response in St. George's and provide support if there was a fire at the Airport.
