Giving power to the people

A steering committee has now been set up by an independent group aiming to give more power to Bermuda’s people.
The newly-formed Voters’ Rights Association is vowing to push for urgent parliamentary and constitutional reform to give everyone a bigger say in decision-making.
At its latest meeting on Tuesday, members discussed their proposals to give constituents the right to recall an MP, and for a code of ethics for elected officials.
Group interim co-chairmen Geoff Parker Sr. and Stuart Hayward said a Voters’ Bill of Rights has been drafted and will be overseen by the steering committee at weekly meetings. For more information about the project log on to www.votersrightsbda.com or e-mail votersrightsbda[AT]yahoo.com
