Sarah Burrows

Described as “a great girl with practical family values”, Mrs. Burrows wants to see practical change now.

She says: “I do not believe that any of us, who have worked hard all our lives, like where Bermuda is headed today. If we do nothing about it, I fear for our children’s future.”

She believes Bermuda, with its small size and successful economy, should lead the way in promoting health care of all of its citizens: “Our health care could be the envy of the world, with active screening from birth to identify potential problems, coupled with proactive health education and treatment.”

She says family should also provide education for children, with discussions around the meal table.

Mrs. Burrows says: “Education is not a solution on its own; the solution is to identify the aptitude of each child and to help them realise their potential.

“Practical career identification and guidance contribute to a healthy society. Work experience is a part of the educational process.”

A serious review of drugs on the Island and more Police are also on her agenda. “In a country the size of Bermuda, with only limited points of entry, we can deal with the drug issue as we decide. Let us debate it seriously.”

Goals for Sandys:

* To make Bermuda the envy of the world in terms of health care, particularly for seniors.

* To increase Police patrols throughout the community.

* To clear away abandoned cars in Scotts Hill Road and to clean up roadsides of trash and debris.
