In addition to becoming a doctor, Kyjuan Hilton Brown is also an entrepreneur with a successful business. While he was a medical student, Dr. Brown opened Ultra Concepts Group(UCG), a business aimed at providing the same services large companies provide for smaller businesses. Dr. Brown said he was always interested in business from a young age.

“My father and other family members owned small businesses. As I was growing up, instead of going to summer camp, I went to plumbing academy or worked in small businesses with my family members.

He explains he saw the challenges they went through and decided to open a business to help small business owners.

“It was developed to address their challenges. The use of technology was foreign but I saw their growth and sustainability. I said, ‘why not open up this to other small companies’. The principles are sound and that’s something that anyone of them can use to teach development and progression.

UCG specialises in business management, accounts and marketing. The back of town native said: “We give services to the small business man. We give them the opportunity to relax and go out and do the work while we focus on marketing and strategic planning and customer relations.”

Dr. Brown said his company gives smaller companies backing and a foundation for them to rely on.

Even though he is now a full time doctor, the entrepreneur says the only difficulty he sees in running the business and having a career in medicine is time.

“It really does take a great deal of management. I started the company when I was a full time medical student. I pretty much had to manage my time accordingly juggling academic studies and clinical studies.

In reference to medicine, it is my passion but it isn’t something that will take all of my time. I will devote a day a week to my business or other interests.”
