Race survey seeks white views
A Bermudian student is appealing to the Island's white residents to take part in her online survey on attitudes towards race.
Carol-Ann Simmons, who is studying psychology and business at Buckingham University in the UK, is researching how personality traits and patterns of social interaction influence interracial attitudes among whites in Bermuda.
The questionnaire is part of her final year psychology project and should take about 20 minutes to complete on her blog, a Bermudian's View.
She writes: "Participants should be at least 18 years of age or older and should be white residents of Bermuda. I am focusing specifically on whites in this research because, by various accounts, whenever the issue of race is raised in Bermuda, many whites have communicated their discomfort with openly sharing their opinions.
"This study provides an opportunity to share your opinions confidentially and to contribute to an aspect of psychological research that has not been published on Bermuda before."
She adds: "Your participation is completely anonymous and the raw data you provide is only for the purpose of this psychology research project."
