24-year-old man found dead
A woman told last night of her horror at finding a man she calls her son dead in her kitchen.
Shirley Parsons of Dondonald Street, Hamilton said she found her 24-year-old houseguest lifeless after she initially thought he was sleeping.
Ms. Parsons said the man had a sleeping disorder, which, she believed he succumbed to.
"It was just after 6 p.m. when I noticed he was dead. I went to check his pulse and he was cold. I then called 911 before my sister tried to perform CPR on him."
A statement issued by Police said: "At 6.25 p.m., Police received a report of a sudden death.
"It appears that the victim, a 25-year-old Pembroke man, was found in an unresponsive state at a Dundonald Street, Pembroke premises. He was pronounced dead at the scene by an on call physician at 7.35 p.m.
"No further information will be released until the next of kin has been notified.
"Foul play has not been ruled out; however, there does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing."
Ms. Parsons said: "He was staying with me because he didn't have anywhere to stay.
"I only wished other people would do the same for me and put me up if I needed somewhere to stay. Bermudian people have lost their compassion," she said.
The tearful mourner said she really loved the deceased, of whom she was like a step mom. "He was very respectable, I was so proud that he called me mom."
As a growing crowd gathered at the scene, a passing motorist who appeared to be observing the disturbance struck an on coming motorcycle causing injury to the rider.
The Police statement said: "At 8.05 p.m., Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Dundonald Street and Union Street in Pembroke involving a car and a motorcycle.
"The motorcyclist sustained a leg injury. The driver of the car was not injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway."
