The Island is to go on alert for a tsunami tomorrow.

Government representatives and local consultants will simulate an emergency response and action plan in response to reports of a tsunami north of Puerto Rico.

The exercise is part of LANTEX 09 the first international tsunami exercise to be carried out in the northwest Atlantic region.

Sponsored by NOAA and the US National Tsunami Hazard Mitigation Program, it aims to evaluate local tsunami response plans and the coordination between different countries.The local tabletop exercise is being hosted by the Bermuda Police Service and coordinated by the Bermuda Weather Service.
