Bermuda has been promised a “huge event” in the world of ballroom dancing, when the 2011 World Pro Am Championships convenes at the Fairmont Southampton Hotel.Championship representatives are meeting at the hotel today and over the weekend, with Bermuda Government officials and local sponsors. The dance competitions are planned for March 18 to 21.Television shows such as ‘Strictly Come Dancing' and ‘Dancing with the Stars' have heightened the popularity of ballroom dancing in recent years, and the event, along with a professional Latin Challenge, is expected to draw international attention to the Island.
