Power restored after high winds

Power has been restored to homes after high winds in recent days caused outages across the Island.Approximately 1,400 customers lost electricity over the Christmas holiday.By Tuesday, power had been returned to all but 185 customers, mainly in the Sleepy Hollow neighbourhood in Hamilton Parish.Seven crews worked to get the lights back on by 9pm that night.Belco spokeswoman Susan McGrath-Smith said: “Early in the New Year, crews will go back to circuits or sections or branch lines that lost power more than once during the recent weeks of windy weather, so that major repair work can be done.“This maintenance will be scheduled and customers will be advised via letters and advertising.”
