Government announces Civil Service moves
Business leader Michelle Khaldun has been appointed Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Business Development and Tourism.Ms Khaldun, the general manager of Bermuda Small Business Development Corporation and a former Education Permanent Secretary, was one of three senior appointments announced by Cabinet Office yesterday.Wayne Carey is the new Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Youth, Families and Community Development, while Marc Telemaque was confirmed in the same post in the National Security Ministry.Mr Carey, who has been leading Government’s efforts implementing the new public access to information law, was previously the Permanent Secretary for Culture and Rehabilitation.Major Telemaque was Cabinet Secretary throughout the Ewart Brown tenure but was replaced by Donald Scott after Paula Cox was elected leader in October.He doubled as acting head of the Civil Service after Kenneth Dill retired last September.Before the appointments came into effect on Tuesday, Pamela Burrows was Acting Permanent Secretary for Business Development and Tourism; Randy Rochester was Acting Permanent Secretary for Youth, Families and Community Development.
