Ianthia Wade named chairwoman of Sustainable Development Roundtable

Ianthia Wade has replaced Arthur Hodgson as chairwoman of the Sustainable Development Roundtable.The appointment of the widow of former Progressive Labour Party leader Frederick Wade was one of a number of changes to Government boards and quangos announced in the Official Gazette yesterday.PLP backbencher Wayne Perinchief, the former Assistant Police Commissioner, replaces plastic surgeon Christopher Johnson as Road Safety Council chairman, with fellow Government MP Dennis Lister also now on that council.Mr Perinchief also takes over as chairman of the Parole Board from Dame Jennifer Smith, who was appointed Education Minister in November.Dame Jennifer hands over her role as chairwoman of the Government Employees (Health Insurance) Management Committee to Independent Senator Joan Dillas-Wright; and as chairwoman of the Stamp Design Advisory Committee to Lisa Quinn-Brown.Mr Lister is appointed chairman of the Ports Authority Board in place of Ross Smith; Government Whip Lovitta Foggo becomes chairwoman of the Public Service Vehicles Licensing Board in place of Joella Dawn Simmons; and Economy Minister Kim Wilson is chairwoman of the Labour Advisory Council.Another backbencher, Dale Butler, is chairman of Bermuda Educators Council’s Exemption Committee; while another, Randy Horton, is chairman of the Air Advisory Committee; and Walter Lister is chairman of West End Development Corporation.Anthony Foster is promoted from deputy to chairman on the Bermuda Small Business Development Corporation, in place of former Attorney General Larry Mussenden, with Cyril Whitter taking over as deputy.Donna Harvey-Maybury steps up as new chairwoman of the Immigration Board, replacing Patrice Minors the Tourism Minister; William Madeiros takes over as deputy.Telecommunications Commission chairman Ronald Simmons now doubles as chairman of the Audit Committee in place of Thomas Miller.National Sports Centre trustees chairman Sean Tucker is no longer chairman of the Appeals Committee, having been replaced by Dorothy Trott.Midwife assistant Sophia Cannonier is the new chairwoman of Bermuda Arts Council, with Crystal Caesar stepping down to deputy.Joanne Ball-Burgess has been replaced as chairwoman of the National Library Committee by soprano Toni Robinson.Podiatrist Neil Moncrieff is the new chairman of the Board of Chiropodists, replacing Donna Hendrickson; Nitin Aggarwal replaces Wendall Brown as chairman of the board of trustees for the Golf Courses.PLP candidate for St George’s West John Gibbons is the new chairman of the Commercial Fisheries Council.Kenneth Richardson is chairman of the Employment Tribunal in place of Gary Phillips; CellularOne founder Michael Leverock is the new chairman of the Professional Engineers Registration, in place of Bryan Adams.Land surveyor Quinton Stovell replaces Timothy James as chairman of the Trucks Advisory Committee.The only chairmanship change in the parish councils is in St George’s, where Edward Saunders is replaced by Pastor Henry Armstrong.
