Canadian woman jailed for drug smuggling

Kayla Nicol, who was described as a 'mule', was jailed today for drug smuggling.

A Canadian woman who smuggled $48,750 worth of cocaine into Bermuda has been jailed for three years.Kayla Nicol concealed the narcotics in condoms inside her body. The 22-year-old admitted to officials that she had them on her when she arrived at LF Wade International Airport on Sunday, January 16.She pleaded guilty on January 20 and was jailed this morning.Defence lawyer Kenville Savoury described Nicol as as mule who imported the drugs on a promise of $5500.He said she's refused to tell police who else was involved because she's afraid for the safety of her family.
