Armstrong could be out in a few days

Shooting victim Gregory Armstrong could be released from hospital in a few days after making a remarkable recovery from a gunshot wound.

The 22-year-old has been seriously ill in Huntsville Hospital since he was shot by intruders in his Alabama apartment on Monday, January 15.

Mr. Armstrong underwent surgery on the injury to his left abdomen more than three weeks ago and since then his condition has mainly been described as life-threatening or critical.

However, Police have now announced the victim is making a good recovery and that doctors could allow him out shortly.

Wendell Johnson, spokesman for Huntsville Police Department, said: ?Gregory Armstrong is in a regular hospital room in good condition at Huntsville Hospital.

He could be released within the next few days.?

Mr. Armstrong?s mother, Reverend Judith Gardner, from St. Paul?s AME Church, is thought to remain at his bedside.

She flew from the Island to Alabama with Mr. Armstrong?s two sisters shortly after hearing about the shooting.

Friends of the family have said Mr. Armstrong is an undergraduate at a nearby university.

Two teenagers have been charged in connection with the incident.

Montez Holt, 19, is charged with attempted murder, robbery in the first degree, two counts of discharging a firearm into a building, assault in the second degree and burglary in the first degree.

Raphael Parham, 16, of Huntsville, is charged with first degree burglary and robbery.
