Breaking News: Another driver is victim of late night attack

A min-bus driver was attacked and robbed by two men wielding knives last night — the second incident involving drivers in less than a week.

Police said that at about 11.55 p.m. they received a report of an assault/robbery outside Maxi Mart, on Middle Road, in Sandys.

A spokesman added: “It appears that the victim, a 56-year-old mini-bus driver from Warwick, was about to get into his vehicle when he was accosted by two unknown men brandishing bladed articles.

“The assailants took a pouch containing a quantity of loose change before fleeing on foot. The victim was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment; however his injury is not believed to be life threatening.

“The suspects are described as two light brown skinned men of slim build, approximately 5ft 8ins and believed to be aged in their 20s; one had a close haircut and was wearing an orange shirt while the other was wearing a white T-shirt and had no facial hair.”

Last Friday, tour driver 77-year-old Calworth Furbert was robbed at gunpoint in Hamilton Parish late at night. His BlackBerry was stolen.
