Armed men attacked a 77-year-old taxi driver – for his BlackBerry.
In a statement today, Police said they were called at about 11.20am on Friday to a robbery on Redkiln Road, in Hamilton Parish.
The victim, the father of politician Wayne Furbert, was accosted by four men outside his home after parking and leaving his vehicle. One of the men apparently brandished a weapon while another brandished a bladed article.
A Police spokesman said: “The suspects took the victim's BlackBerry cellular phone and made good their escape on foot towards the Railway Trail. The victim received relatively minor injuries as a result.”
The suspects are described as four young men dressed in dark coloured clothing. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the St. George's Criminal Investigation Unit on 293-2222.
