Breaking News: Armed men rob 31-year-old woman

Police are investigating two robberies - one by four men on a taxi driver and another by two men brandishing a gun who robbed a woman.

At about 12.35am today, a 34-year-old taxi driver from Sandys took four men to Seawall Drive, in Sandys, and once there the driver was accosted by the passengers.

A Police spokesman said: “They took the victim's cellular phone before fleeing the scene. The taxi driver was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. Two of the suspects, an 18-year-old Warwick man and a 20-year-old Sandys man were subsequently arrested in connection with this incident.”

At about 3.45am yesterday, a 31-year-old UK woman was walking along Richmond Road, near The Robin Hood Pub, when she was accosted by two men on a motorcycle.

The spokesman added: “One of the men brandished what appeared to be a firearm and demanded the visitor's possessions before both suspects made good their escape heading west along Richmond Road with the woman's handbag containing a quantity of cash and personal items. The visitor was not injured.

“The main suspect is described as approximately 5ft 10in, of slim build wearing dark coloured clothing and a black helmet without a visor. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.”
