Breaking News: Butler launches leadership bid
Former Culture Minister Dale Butler today launched his campaign to lead the Country in front of a crowd of more than 30 supporters.
Mr. Butler revealed a social agenda including pledges to help unemployed people get jobs using their skills, improve the plight of young black males and get the most out of the Island’s community activists.
He also plans to save cash by slashing the Premier’s and Ministers’ salaries, cutting spending on consultants and bringing in no more free Government programmes.
The launch took place at the Salvation Army Shelter, which Mr. Butler presented a large donation of food collected from the public yesterday.
He has said helping the homeless will be one of his key goals if he’s elected Premier ahead of firm favourite Paula Cox, the Finance Minister, or fellow backbencher Terry Lister.
