Breaking News: Update 1: BA puts on special flight as snow closes Gatwick

Today’s British Airway’s flight from Gatwick Airport to Bermuda has been cancelled due to harsh winter weather closing the UK?airport.

General Manager at LF Wade International Airport Aaron Adderly said BA has arranged to fly an empty plane from London’s Heathrow to Bermuda today to allow the flight departing Bermuda to go ahead.

However, that flight is now expected to be delayed. As of 2pm today, BA flight 2232 is scheduled to depart at 9.40 pm local time and arrive at Gatwick at 8.35am UK time.

The departure time could be pushed back even further as, according to the Gatwick Airport website, the airport runway will remain closed until 10am tomorrow UK time due to severe weather conditions.

Heavy snowfall, as much as 15cm in some areas, has caused the closure of several UK?airports and many schools.

A statement from the Gatwick Airport reads: “There will be significant disruption, delays and cancellations tomorrow and passengers should not set out for the airport before checking with their airline for the latest information.”
