Breaking News: Visitor numbers increase in third quarter
Premier Ewart Brown this afternoon announced that visitor arrivals for the third quarter of this year had risen by three percent.
The only area to suffer a year-on-year decline was air arrivals, which experienced increases in July and August, of 3.1 percent and two percent respectively, but dropped by 14 percent in September. There were increases in both cruise ship and yacht arrivals, which increased by five percent and 9.5 percent.
Dr. Brown attributed the September drop in air arrivals to cancellations caused by Hurricane Igor.
The Tourism Minister also announced that plans are being considered for a themed water park at the site of the Morgan’s Point resort, and that Rosewood Hotels has signed an agreement with Tucker’s Point to become the property’s operator.
