Burch appointed to Govt. boards

David Burch

Bermuda's new Government boards were published yesterday with Premier Alex Scott's administration making very changes.

But Lt. Col. David Burch, former Premier Jennifer Smith's chief of staff who left power when she was ousted in a party coup in the summer, makes something of a return to public life taking two new positions.

Lt. Col. Burch, was also served as Housing Minister, becomes deputy chairman of both the Bermuda College Board of Governors and and the Board of Education.

Government senator and lawyer Larry Mussenden is no longer deputy chair of the College Board of Governors, making way for Lt. Col. Burch.

Community Affairs Minister Dale Butler loses his place on the Immigration Board, but former PLP backbencher Delaey Robinson remains as chairman of the Tourist Board.

At the Human Rights Commission, lawyer Rod Attride-Stirling steps up from deputy chairman to chairman, with former chair Mary Anne Scott leaving the Commission.

Minister Without Portfolio Ashfield DeVent is replaced at Bermuda Housing Corporation by the Rev. Goodwin Smith.
