Burglar steals cash after guest house break-in

A burglar broke into a Sandys guest property and stole $1,700 from two tourists as they slept.The break-in happened between 10.30 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday and $1,450 of US cash and $250 in Bermudian currency was taken.Police would not reveal the name of the property where the burglary took place. A spokesman said it appeared that the man and woman visiting the Island were in the room when the break-in, which is being investigated, occurred.

The break-in happened between 10.30 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday and $1,450 of US cash and $250 in Bermudian currency was taken.

Police would not reveal the name of the property where the burglary took place. A spokesman said it appeared that the man and woman visiting the Island were in the room when the break-in, which is being investigated, occurred.

"The culprit was able to gain entry and get away with the cash and make good their escape without them realising it till next morning," he said.

A break-in also took place at Kiddie Academy on Laffan Street in Pembroke overnight on Monday. The burglar stole $200 after gaining entry between 6.30 p.m and 8 a.m. the next day.
