Conference to promote literacy
Parents, teachers and members of the public will have an opportunity to learn more about promoting literacy among young people at the 21st Reading Conference of the Bermuda Reading Association at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess tomorrow.
Two overseas presenters and a team of local educators will offer hands-on training in workshops aimed at pre-school, primary and secondary education. Guest speakers include Dr. Charline Barnes who will deliver the keynote address and speak on reading as a key to lifelong success and enjoyment.
Dr. Barnes is an associate professor of literacy education at Adelphi University and is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Reading Association.

Ms Scott is a 16-year veteran of the newspaper and has served for the last 15 years as Director of Educational Services. She is a passionate advocate of Newspapers in Education and is anxious to impart to teachers the tools for incorporating high interest material ? the newspaper ? into classroom lessons to meet established curriculum goals.

She is also an instructor of Infant, Toddler, Pre-school and School Age Environments at the Bermuda College and is an active member of the Bermuda Association for the Education of Young Children as well as the Bermuda Reading Association.
