Cyclist ?stable? after he breaks leg in crash

A teenage motorcyclist is in hospital with facial injuries and a broken right leg following a road accident on Saturday evening.

The 18-year-old, from St. George's, was travelling east on Middle Road in Sandys when his bike collided with a car turning out of Store Lane at about 8.15 p.m.

He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment and was described as being in a "stable" condition on a general ward yesterday.

His motorcycle was extensively damaged. The car driver, a 77-year-old Sandys man, was not injured.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash. Anyone with information should call P.c. Andre Richards at Somerset Police Station on 234-1010 or 295-0011.

The weekend saw seven road crashes resulting in injury reported, 16 damage-only collisions and six people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

There were also six reported burglaries: two in Devonshire, two in Pembroke, one in Southampton and one in Sandys.
