Docks row over

A dispute involving workers at Hamilton Docks has been resolved following talks after a work-to-rule action by dockers which started on Sunday evening.

The dispute centred on a lack of communication between management and workers at Stevedoring Services regarding promotions and training issues.

Bermuda Industrial Union president Derrick Burgess last night confirmed the dispute has now been resolved.

"A meeting was held between management and staff and things have been ironed out," he said. "Management had been making plans and not been discussing them with the staff.

"Communication is important and management must understand that. The company is not just management. They have now agreed they will go back to step one."

Mr. Burgess said the work-to-rule action had now been lifted.
