Elderly man robbed on Pitts Bay Road

A 71-year-old man was stabbed in the arm by a robber who stole cash from him in the early hours of yesterday.

The pensioner, from Pembroke, was sitting in his car at the Paget Shell Service Station on Middle Road at about 2.30 a.m. when a man approached him, attacked him with a bladed article and demanded money.

The victim, who suffered cuts to both hands and a wound to his right arm, handed over about $40 cash after a brief struggle. His assailant made off on foot.

The senior was treated at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for his injuries and later released.

Police are also investigating a robbery which took place on Pitts Bay Road, Pembroke, at about 7 p.m. on Sunday evening.

The victim, a 59-year-old man, was near Monty's restaurant when two young men approached him and demanded money.

They took his wallet, which contained $57 cash and personal items, and pushed him to the ground, causing him to sustain minor head injuries which were later treated in hospital.

The pair got on a motorcycle and drove off east along Pitts Bay Road.

Both were black, believed to be teenagers and were wearing dark coats and black helmets.
