Exhibition cancellation means regular school day for students

The day set aside for schoolchildren to attend the Annual Exhibition will be a regular school day this year after the event was cancelled.

Schoolchildren are traditionally given the Friday to attend the Annual Exhibition, formerly known as the Agricultural Exhibition. "It was a day set aside to facilitate school attendance at the Ag Show," said Chief Education Officer Joseph Christopher.

With the exhibition cancelled this year after Hurricane Fabian damaged the Botanical Gardens, however, children will instead attend school as usual on Friday, April 23. Environment Minister Neletha Butterfield, while expressing her own disappointment and regret at the exhibition's forced cancellation, promised the Ag Show would be back and better than ever in 2005.
