A 36-year-old man was charged with sexual assault, unlawful assault and stealing on Friday in Magistrates' Court.

The St. George's man was not required to enter a plea as the charges are indictable.

The incident is alleged to have occurred on January 7. The defendant appeared before Magistrate Edward Bailey on Friday with his defence lawyer Elizabeth Christopher.

He was remanded to custody and must return to Magistrates' Court on January 19.
