... meanwhile, the Regiment mounts Operation Cleanup

Bermuda Regiment Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Edward Lamb and Adjutant Capt. Steven Caton look at the wall by Southampton Rangers after the Bermuda Regiment went down on Monday to paint over "copKiller" graffiti.

A mini-taskforce of officers and soldiers from The Regiment, led by commanding officer Lt. Col. Eddie Lamb, took matters into their own hands and repainted a wall that had been defaced with graffiti slogans such as ?Southside Mafia? and ?Cop Killers?.

When Lt. Col. Lamb picked up his copy of yesterday?s from a vendor outside Warwick Camp he saw the picture of the daubed wall and looked across the road where he could see the real thing blighting one of the Island?s most popular tourist spots at Horseshoe Bay.

He immediately returned to the camp and ordered a taskforce of two officers and three soldiers to round up paint, brushes and rollers and set to work repainting the wall outside the Southampton Rangers Field on Horseshoe Road.

The Island?s top soldier supervised the paint job himself, and said: ?When I saw the picture in the newspaper and looked across at the wall I thought, rather than complain about it, I wanted to do something about it.

?I gave the order to get up some rollers and paints and some people and do something about it. It is not acceptable for these people to deface our neighbourhood.? Lt. Col. Lamb said he hoped the example set by The Regiment would encourage others to take positive action.
