Police to launch recruitment drive
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 29: The Police are to launch a recruitment drive to bolster their numbers, it was announced this afternoon.
Deputy Commissioner Mike Jackman said: “It is important for the Bermuda Police Service to take every opportunity to fill vacant posts with Bermudians. We have a number of vacancies and we expect further vacancies to occur in the New Year.
“We believe in the current economic climate that there are a number of Bermudians looking to change occupations and the Bermuda Police Service presents a very viable option. Joining the Bermuda Police Service provides an opportunity for community service and giving back to the community and at the same times presents wonderful opportunities to work in a dynamic organization with exceptional benefits.
“We are looking to attract the best local candidates to join our ranks so that we can adequately serve the community who deserve the very best.”
In the past the Fire Service has had problems recruiting due to people failing drug tests and last week it was revealed that the majority of applicants for Customs jobs could not pass an entrance exam.
It is not known how many vacancies Police have, but if people are interested there are certain criteria:
• Between 19 and 49 years of age
• Bermudian or the non-Bermudian spouse of a Bermudian
• Possess a school-leaving certificate with good academic standing
• Committed to serving your community and upholding the law
• Honest and possess a high degree of integrity
• Team players, highly motivated, decisive and calm under pressure with good interpersonal skills
