Premier tells students: Work hard to achieve success
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 21: Premier Ewart Brown opened the 2010 Ace Foundation Career Fair this morning, telling attendees that someone in attendance could become the Premier — or Prime Minister — of Bermuda.
However, addressing more than 100 gathered students, Dr. Brown said they would have to work hard to achieve success.
“The fact is that in 21st century Bermuda, no one owes you a job or an opportunity,” he said. “You will have to do the work, earn the necessary qualifications and display personal standards of excellence.
“Not only could someone here become the Premier, but maybe someone here could become the Prime Minister of Bermuda.”
The fair is taking place at the Bermuda College campus between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. today and tomorrow, featuring around 80 booths with information about various career opportunities, along with displays by the Bermuda Police Canine Division and the Bermuda Fire Service.
