Senators: Save Prep class
Government Senate Leader Kim Swan this week urged Government to rethink its plans to scrap a primary one stream for St. George's Preparatory School.
The census showed while Bermuda grew by six percent, St. George's population went up 18 percent, so there was a need for more school places.
And he said the Ministry of Education had to take seriously the proposals from parents to have two streams at the school.
Sen. Walter Roban said Government would listen to the parents because it was a listening administration.
But Opposition Sen. Leonard Santucci said the PLP had a problem listening to people, and if they did listen, they didn't hear because they had a pre-determined agenda.
"I would hope that Q-tips would be applied so that only do they listen, but they hear," he said.
Government Senate Leader Larry Mussenden said Housing Minister Ashfield DeVent's acceptance on Monday night of a motion to withdraw a controversial planning application for Mary Victoria Road was proof that the PLP was a listening Government.
