Tests confirm second cat was poisoned in Spanish Point

"Bubbles", seen here with family member Daniela D'Amato, is the second cat to be confirmed killed as a result of poisoning in the Spanish Point area.

A toxicology check on a second pet cat found dead near Spanish Point has concluded that it was also poisoned.

Until the veterinary reports had been completed there was always a chance that ?Bubbles? had died for another reason, possibly through a genetic condition.

But it has now been confirmed that the cat died as a result of poisoning, just like 14-year-old ?Beash? who lived a few houses away and whose death was reported in earlier in the month.

Bubble?s owner Toni D?Amato, of Old House Lane, said: ?We wanted definite confirmation from the toxicology report and it has been confirmed that it she was poisoned.

?Without being able to find any evidence it was only suspected, but it is no longer a suspicion now. It is a fact. I?m worried about other animals in the neighbourhood being poisoned the same way.?

She and her family are keeping a close eye on their other pets, two cats and a dog, in case they also fall foul to what appears to be the deliberate poisoning of pets using an everyday product.

The substance used to kill Beash and Bubbles is known, but is not publishing the details to avoid copy attacks by others.

Both cats live nearby one another and were poisoned within a matter of days.

The first cat to die, Beash, was owned by Cindee Miller, of Spanish Point Road. Both neighbours are keeping a vigilant eye on one another?s pets in case there is a repeat poisoning attempt.

Police are investigating the poisonings, which have been widely condemened and come after a spate of other animal cruelty cases.
