$400,000 donation to ?impact positively? on patient care, Richardson says
A donation of more than $400,000 has been made to the Bermuda Hospitals Board to pay for a number of pieces of equipment and items to improve the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
The Hospitals Auxiliary of Bermuda runs The Barn, Pink Cafe, gift shop and hospitality cart, and its volunteers log more than 40,000 hours of service each year at the KEMH and Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute.
?Our volunteers are extremely committed to supporting the hospitals. Thanks to their dedication and hard work, we are donating a sizeable amount of money to purchase capital equipment,? said HAB President Josephine Wright.
Amongst the equipment being bought with the money is a water purification plant for the dialysis unit, a stress treadmill for the cardiac unit and a computer aid device for mammography as well as further items to be used around the hospital.
Bermuda Hospitals Board chairman Anthony Richardson said: ?We truly value this donation, which will fund vital equipment and impact positively on quality patient care. We are grateful that hundreds of HAB members work at our hospitals, taking on a large variety of responsibilities. Their efforts help us better serve the community. Their work touches the lives of patients and their families and provides support to our staff.?
