A window of opportunity for artists

Local artists are being showcased in the windows of the former Trimingham?s building. Last month the windows featured pictures of Bermuda?s triumphant ICC World Cup qualifying team.

The Bank of Bermuda is still in the process of deciding what to do with the landmark building after Trimingham?s closed in July. CEO Philip Butterfield said during the initial redevelopment period it would be important to maintain an appealing visual appearance for tourists and locals who visit Hamilton.

Featured artists include Joahann Flath, Francis Furbert, Marita Idh-Gauntlett, Kathy Harriott, William Grinnley, Heather Brangman, Carla Marquardt, Lindsey George, Stephanie Hollis, Rebecca Payne and Summer Wood.

The Bermuda Biological Station for Research will be hosting its annual Marine Science Day tomorrow at its research station in St. George?s.

Scientists and staff will guide members of the public through the latest research and education programmes, mini research cruises and lab and ship tours. For the children, ?Ask the Scientist? puppet shows will be held all day and there will also be plenty to eat and drink with food stalls.

The event starts at 11 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m.

The Bermuda Red Cross has thanked residents for their generosity after $39,913.05 was raised for the West African Crises Appeal since early August.
