Aquarium intern honoured
Miguel Mejias?s compassion and care for animals has been recognised by CableVision in awarding him CableVision?s Community Service Award.
CableVision recognised Mejias for his exceptional volunteer record at Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo (BAMZ) and working at the Hannover Veterinary Hospital, among other community activities.
Mejias accumulated more than 550 hours of volunteer work in the community while a student at CedarBridge. The 18 year-old was honoured yesterday with a presentation attended by the Minister of Education Terry Lister at the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo (BAMZ).
?I love animals and I like take caring of them. I am very touched and surprised that CableVision has honoured with this award which reflects my time spent as a volunteer,? Mejias said.
At the Aquarium, Mejias assists with the conservation projects and helps take care of the animals and marine life and has provided guided tours at the Aquarium.
He is continuing his academic studies at Bermuda College next semester and aspires to have a career in the veterinary field.
