Bank awards $460,000 in scholarships

The Bank of Bermuda Foundation awarded sixteen scholarships to Bermudian students worth $460,000.The students were honoured at a reception at Bank of Bermuda Head Office.Students were awarded monies mostly on a annual basis.The Sir John W. Cox University Scholarship for postgraduate studies was awarded to Tara Kessaram. The scholarship is valued at $25,000 per year for up to four years.

Students were awarded monies mostly on a annual basis.

The Sir John W. Cox University Scholarship for postgraduate studies was awarded to Tara Kessaram. The scholarship is valued at $25,000 per year for up to four years.

Olivia Fraser-Smith is the 2005 winner of the Eldon H. Trimingham Master of Business Administration scholarship.

Mrs. Fraser-Smith was awarded $25,000 per year for up to two years. After she completes her degree, she will be required to work for the Bank of Bermuda for a time equal to the length of her scholarship.

The Bank of Bermuda Foundation Financial Services Scholarship was awarded to Kara Smith. The scholarship is worth $30,000 and will be given equally in the third and fourth year of study.

Ms Smith will be expected to work at the Bank of Bermuda on her breaks from studying. She will also be required to work for the bank for a period equal to the length of the scholarship.

David Amaro is the recipient of the Sir Henry Tucker University scholarship 2005. The scholarship is worth $25,000 per year over the course of four years.

The scholarship is given to a student who has ?outstanding scholastic ability, leadership, devotion to duty and fellowship, ability in athletic, cultural and other non-academic pursuits? said a press release.

Susanna Merlo, Peter Riihiluoma and Kelly-Ann Robinson are all recipients of the Sir Henry Tucker University Education Grants 2005. The grants are worth $6,000 per year for a period not exceeding three years.

The Foundation Information Technology Scholarship 2005 was awarded to Melvin Dickinson Jr., Jonathan Dill, Simone Ebbin and Derrick Hendrickson. The scholarships are valued at $6,000 and will not exceed a period of over four years.

The Bank of Bermuda Foundation President?s Award for Scholastic Achievement 2005 was awarded to five students.

Dominique Anderson was awarded the Premier Award and Jiney Caines, Sharmaine Landy, Taqwa Talbot and Renee Taylor were the runners up.

The Premier award is valued at $10,000 and $5,000 for the runners up. The awards provide financial help a period of one academic year to students who are in or just completed their final year of the Bermuda secondary school system or Bermuda College.
